Don’t love to only hate

A few days back a few friends and me were in a car ride together, and quickly the conversation moved to gossip about a common acquaintance. Now, I call this gossip because this is someone who we love to hate. She has these quirks that get on all our nerves and conversations with her can get really out of hand. Lets just say she’ll push the topic of conversation so hard just to make an unwittingly wrong point, that you’ll just want to give up.

Today the gossip was related to her work and how she went on and on about something that she didn’t know much about. After having our share of laughs about how a certain dialogue was moot, I happened to slide in “… I mean I don’t know how good her work is, but this is ridiculous.” To this another friend mentioned that her actual work isn’t too bad. Someone else then happened to mention that she’s also a nice person at heart. The third friend said, “If only she didnt have her quirks.”

And just like that, the way we all perceived this girl changed. Perhaps, all of us had seen different sides of her, but chose to talk about the things that were obvious and well, ‘talk-worthy’. Little did we know, soon it became the ONLY thing about her and we all influenced our opinion about it to others too.

I’m so glad that we actually separated her quirks from the rest of her personality and saw her for who she is.
